Visible Mending for Sustainability

Explore the fundamentals of Visible Mending on denim in this 4-hour course outlining three ways to mend your loved and worn denim garments. The course will cover the basics by making a ‘mend sampler’ that demonstrate various ways to mend in future projects.
The course will introduce historical and traditional ways of stitching on fabric as well as how to think about design and mending as it relates to sustainability. Students are encouraged to bring questions about personal mends and are welcome to bring along a garment for discussions about how to best approach making their beloved denim into something special.
Note: there may not be class time to mend personal garments as it takes time to learnthe techniques, but this is something students can explore on their own.
Materials cost: $25 to instructor due to instructor at class. Cash, Venmo, or PayPal accepted
